Verses of Form
Cube structure, dyed fabric using wax-resist technique, LED light, novel
140 X 140 X 140 cm

Verses of Form is a symbolism of the artist’s personal enlightenment shaped in cube (referencing the Kaaba in Mecca) and its interior is vacant yet lighted with a novel book accompanying its vacancy. The notion of the almighty inspired the curious ancient mere mortals to construct a form, a central figure in their lives, and thus a man-made form like the Kaaba was built.
Lyrical thoughts on moral grounds that were built on the idea between heaven and hell, written in magical realism writing genre are artist’s own verses. Wax-resist and dyeing of the fabric is another metaphor jumbled in this installation asserting the notion of resisting death in a bid to enter the eternal afterlife, where paradise were promised for the good-doers.

Installation view in Pneuma: Of Spirituality in Contemporary Age, Stamford Arts Centre, 2020.
