Yang Jie and Fajrina’s collaboration work, Gestural Tjantings, references to the craftswomen’s gestures of making batik tulis - where tulis literally means writing - mimicking the peculiar movement of the arms and hands. Here the tjantings are formed to enact the repetition of drawing and writing on fabric.
